Service for Mary Lois Miller Baker, 100, of Cleburne will be conducted at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, May 12, 2018, in the United Presbyterian Church of Cleburne. The Reverend Kenny Rigoulot will officiate. Burial will be in Rosehill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00-6:30 P.M., Friday, at the funeral home.
Mary Lois Miller Baker was born in Hermleigh, Texas, on December 8, 1917, the daughter of John Walter and Corrine Miller. Her parents, who also had sons Lawrence, Henry, and John, were lifelong farmers and ranchers in West Texas and eastern New Mexico. Mary graduated in home economics and education from Texas Technological College in Lubbock, where she met Garnell A. Baker of Cleburne.
Mary and Garnell married in 1940 and from that time onward lived in Cleburne and attended the Presbyterian Church. Garnell served in the U.S. Army during World War II, while Mary worked in the Johnson County Ration Office and later the Cleburne Water Department.
Mary and Garnell had one son, T. Lindsay Baker, who attended Cleburne High School and Texas Tech University, becoming a historian and museum curator. Garnell worked as a civil engineer for the Santa Fe Railway and became a land surveyor.
After the birth and infancy of son Lindsay, Mary returned first as a secretary and office manager for the Cleburne Poultry Company and then as secretary to president W. E. Boger at the Cleburne National Bank. She later taught home economics at Cleburne High School for over a decade and served as a secretary for the Santa Fe Railway in Fort Worth. In retirement she volunteered over a decade at the Layland Museum.
Her surviving family includes son T. Lindsay Baker, daughter-in-law Julie P. Baker, step grandsons Jason C. Shaw, Adam K. Shaw and first daughter-in-law Krystyna Sanderson. Also grieving survivors are her faithful caregivers Angie Bradley, Linda Bankston, James and Margot Woods, and Patricia Whitt.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the operating budget of the United Presbyterian Church, Cleburne, Texas.
