Mary Elizabeth Brigman, 87, passed away Wednesday, September 1, 2021. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest McKinley Bennett coming into this world on December 16, 1933, and grew up with her brother Jake in Grandview, Texas. Everyone who knew Mary, knows that she bled black and white and being a Grandview Zebra brought her such pride. She participated in many school activities and was a cheerleader throughout her time at Grandview High School graduating in 1951. September 27, 1952, Mary wed Lewis Joe Brigman of Maypearl, Texas at the First United Methodist Church in Grandview where she was a life-long member. They lived in Maypearl for several years before moving back to her hometown to raise their two children Joette and Ty. Throughout her life she was an avid sports fan, and she and Joe supported youth softball and baseball. Mary loved cheering on her daughter, son, and the many young girls and boys on the teams they coached in Grandview. When she was not at the ball fields, she enjoyed spending time at the lake with family and friends boating, waterskiing, and enjoying anything outside.
Mary Elizabeth is preceded in death by her husband, Lewis Joe Brigman, father, Ernest McKinley Bennett, mother, Minniebell Poe Bennett, brother, Jake Bennett, daughter, Joette Brigman, and son, Ty Brigman.
Service for Mary Elizabeth Bennett Brigman, of Cleburne will be conducted at 11:00 A.M., Thursday, September 9, 2021, at First Methodist Church of Grandview. Reverend Jim Porter will officiate. Burial will follow in Grandview Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8:00 P.M., Wednesday, September 8, 2021, at the funeral home.
She is survived by her twin granddaughters, who she and Joe raised, of Austin, Texas, Kristy Crawford and Misty Crawford. Her granddaughter Whitney Lacey, of Knoxville, Tennessee along with her great-grandchildren, Ty and Savanna Lacey. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Martha Bennett of Grandview, nieces, Michelle Bennett, of Grandview, and Melissa Melton and husband Al Melton of Grand Prairie, Texas.
In lieu of flowers in Mary Elizabeth’s memory can be made to the First United Methodist Church of Grandview.
