Mary Jane Brown passed away on Saturday, December 16, 2023 in Keene, Texas. She was born to John Walter and Hilda Katherine Sokaitis Bastuba on January 6, 1929 in Dearborn, Michigan. Mary married Elliott Ray Brown on August 17, 1957 in Dearborn, Michigan. They were married 66 years at the time of his death earlier this year (October 16, 2023). Mary was a devoted member of The Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Annandale, Virginia where she served as a volunteer for many years. She was proud to be “Grams” and was extremely close to her grandchildren. Mary worked in the business office for Ford Motor Company for several years. Reading was a passion of hers and she was a member of the Red Fox Forrest Neighborhood Book Club. She also served as editor for the Red Fox Forrest Gazette. Mary enjoyed traveling world-wide, photographing, and playing tennis. It has been said that she was a vibrant lady with a love of people. Mary’s easy-going nature and positive outlook will be greatly missed. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband (listed above).

Survivors include her son, John William Brown & his wife, Keila; grandchildren, Mitchell Thomas Brown & his wife, Rachel, Madeline Ann Brown, and Scott William Brown & his wife, Madeleine; and a host of other family members and friends.
