Mary Fergason

Services for Mary Jo Fergason, 85, of Cleburne, will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 13, 2009 in the Crosier-Pearson Cleburne Chapel. The Rev. Darrell Hightower will officiate. Burial will be in Rosehill Cemetery. Visitation wil be Tuesday from 4-8 p.m.


Mary Jo Fergason passed away Sunday, May 10, 2009 in Cleburne. She was born July 2, 1923 in Cleburne to Vivian Anderson and Mittie Annie Sparks Leonard. She married James W."Doc" Fergason, Sr. on November 1951 in Glen Rose.

Mrs. Fergason was a homemaker and was of the Baptist faith. She was a 50 year member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Godley, past president of the Grandmothers Club and a member of the Rebecca Club.


Mary Jo Fergason is survived by her children, Andy Asberry and wife, Diane of Godley, Linda Asberry of Tomball, Elaine Hillman and husband, Marshall of Idaho Springs, CO, James W. Fergason, Jr. and wife, Lisa Kay of Sanger and Lisa Renee Fergason of Cleburne; grandchildren, Aimee Porco and husband, Ron of Keller and Jonathan Fergason of Justin; great-grandchildren, Camille, Colton and Corinne Porco; special family friend, Harold Richardson of Cleburne; brother, Byron "Jim" Avirett of Cleburne and sisters, Gladys Helen Gossett of Ft. Worth, Francis Jeanette Shockey of Ft. Worth and Sherry Sue Leonard of Denver, CO. She was preceded in death by her parents, Vivian and Mittie Leonard; husband, James W. Fergason, Sr. on March 11, 1997; brothers, Vivian Leonard, Emory Avirett and Emmett Avirett and sisters, Janus Delno Avirett, Mary Glenn Avirett and Joyce Ann McWilliams.
