Mary Robertson

Mary Nell Robertson passed away on March 8, 2020 at the age of 75. Mary Nell was born to Willard and Velma Robertson on December 12, 1944 in Dallas, TX. In 1954, the family moved to Alvarado, TX, and Mary Nell grew up there surrounded by family and friends. She was an avid reader and writer and loved visiting the library. She attended Hill County Jr. College and North Texas State University with an interest in library science. She was instrumental in establishing a library at the First United Methodist Church in Alvarado and volunteered many hours there. She also loved singing in the church choir and participating in other church groups. She worked as an aide at the Alvarado Nursing Home and volunteered at the Senior Center and in other ways in the community. She faced significant health challenges most of her life, but loved to share and serve others as much as she could.
As one of four children, she was the one that shared a love of gardening with her dad. She had the gift of generosity and enjoyed sharing the bounty from the garden with friends and neighbors. She spent a lot of time with her grandparents in their later years, providing assistance which enabled them to remain in their home. She was a woman of great faith with a positive outlook on life and a caring spirit.
Mary Nell was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents. She is survived by her siblings, Walt Robertson and wife Betty of San Diego, CA; James Robertson and wife Marilee of Irving, TX; and Betty Robertson of Pflugerville. She was loved by nieces and nephews, Scott Robertson and wife Michelle of Darien,CT; Susanne Robertson McComic and husband Chris of San Diego, CA; Jay Robertson and wife Stacy of Little Elm, TX; and Julie Robertson of Napa, CA. Great nieces and nephews include Connor and Campbell Robertson, Sinclair, Cole and Cade McComic, and Miranda and Sophia Robertson.
The family wishes to thank Rosemary Williams, a special friend to Mary Nell for the last few years. They also appreciate the dedicated caregivers at Northgate Plaza Nursing Home in Irving. For years, Mary Nell received extraordinary support from the Johnson County MH/MR Center in Cleburne, especially from Lori Pedigo, Rehab Coordinator, and the late Joe Mirisciotti, who was executive director. Thank you all.
