Mason Rivers

Services for Mason "Shorty" Rivers, Jr., 80, of Cleburne, will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, February 7, 2009 in the Crosier-Pearson Cleburne Chapel. Mr. Harrell Wilson will officiate. Interment will be at 2:00 p.m. in Moore Memorial Garden, Arlington. Pallbearers will be Dale Renfroe, James Rivers, Jr., Casey Custer, Jayme Perry, Mike Wood and Mitch Montville. Visitation will be Friday from 6-8 p.m.

Mason "Shorty" Rivers, Jr. passed away Wednesday, February 4, 2009 in Cleburne. He was born July 30, 1928 in Darlove, MS to Mason and Willie Rivers, Sr. He married Dorothy Nell Rivers on January 6, 1949 in Mississippi.

Mr. Rivers retired from Zimmerman Auto Part in Cleburne with 35 years of service. He was a proud volunteer fireman with the Kopperl VFD and was a member of the Kopperl Church of Christ. He lived in Kopperl for 36 years.

Mason Rivers, Jr. is survived by his four daughters, Karen Montville of Benbrook, Nelda Wood of Arlington, Brenda Rogers of Cleburne and Patricia Bennett of Denton; one son, James Edward Rivers of Kopperl; one sister, Mildred Brummett of Greenville, MS; fourteen grandchildren and twenty-two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife,Dorothy on January 15, 2009; parents and five brothers.
