Service for Mattie Fern Smith, 92, of Stephenville, formerly of Cleburne will be conducted at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, Feb. 11, 2012 in the Crosier-Pearson Cleburne Chapel. Pastor David Cole will officiate. Burial will be in Cleburne Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8 P.M. Friday.

Mrs. Smith passed away Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2012 in Stephenville. She was born April 21, 1919 in Cleburne to Henry Thomas and Lenna Cavet Self. She married Pete Smith on July 2, 1937.

Mrs. Smith worked in the cafeteria at Adams Elementary School for 16 years and was a member of Wesley Memorial Methodist Church.

Pete and Mattie Fern had three children, Dellya Fern and Gene Bryant of Stephenville, Dr. Thomas Earl and Debi Smith of Fayetteville, Ark. and Cavet and Judy Smith of Ft. Worth. She had five grandchildren, Genya Annette Curry, Kevin Rex Smith, Jake Patrick Smith, Alex Smith, Suni Smith; two step grandchildren, Sadie Jo Cassel and Jennifer Curtis; three great grandchildren, Kip Edward Curry Jr., Whitney Ann Curry and Zachary Curry and two special friends, Sue Jane Starnes and Buddy Simmons.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Pete Smith on July 20, 2004; her mother and father, H.T. and Lenna Self; sister, Iola Meacham and grandson, Kent Eugene Bryant.
