Service for Maxine Jones, 88, of Cleburne will be conducted at 11:00 A.M., Thursday, Apr. 4, 2013 in the Crosier-Pearson Cleburne Chapel. The Reverend Charles E. Payne and Reverend John Glover will officiate. Burial will follow in Rosehill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Travis Leverett, Tommy Head, Ricky Yates, Jack Brown, Mike Harwell, and Leonard Witte. Honorary pallbearers will be Jackie Hamilton, Pete Hobby, and Harold Almon. No set visitation is scheduled.
Juanita Maxine Jones was born near Grandview on Dec. 27, 1924 to Mr. and Mrs. William Coy Rose. She was a life long resident of Johnson County. She moved to Cleburne in 1942, after graduating Valedictorian of her class and had resided in her home on Woodard Ave. for the last 61 years. She attended Henderson St. Baptist Church for 36 years where she participated in most church activities. She was also church clerk for 18 years. She then attended Field St. Baptist Church as long as she was able to. She worked for S.W. Bell for 43 years, having retired in 1985. Maxine was a people person who never met a stranger. Her great sense of humor will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. She is very thankful to all of her friends and family and she loved them dearly. She wishes them well and a long happy life, as she had for 88 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents and former husband, Gean Jones. She is survived by her special friends and caregivers, Nathan Wilson of Waco and Marsha Hamilton of Cleburne; three dear friends, Eva Miller, Evangeline Bruce and Florence Dossette; three special cousins, Tom Frank Jones and wife Sandra of Cleburne, Jimmy Jones and wife Glenda of Keene, and Dr. Ben Hill Jones and wife Annelle of Cleburne; other first cousins, Bill Brickell, Judy Odom, Jane Jenkins, Nelda Rae Webb, Janice Davis, Jerry Cochran, Kimberly Broughton, Amanda Smith, Susannah Jenkins and Michele McCormick.
