Service for Maynard Adams will be conducted at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, April 18, 2015 in the Crosier-Pearson Cleburne Chapel. Mr. Jim Eaves will officiate. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery in Alvarado. Visitation will be from 1-2:00 P.M., Saturday, prior to the service.

Maynard Adams, age 83 yrs, passed away on April 9, 2015 in Good Samaritan Medical Center, Lafayette, Co.

The son of Ernest and Ethel (Cornett) Adams, Maynard was born September 14, 1931, on his grandfather Cornett’s farm at UZ, near Whitesburg, Kentucky.

He graduated from Jenkins High School, Jenkins, Kentucky and attended Morehead State College. He married Monta Jean Clay of Whitesburg, KY. They had two children; Robert G., Ronald D. and divorced in 1956, Monta Jean passed away in 2000.

He graduated from Coyne Electrical School, Chicago, Ill., in 1952, and went to work for Convair Aircraft Corp., Fort Worth, Texas.

In 1957, Maynard married Nelda Christine Mercier of Fort Worth, Texas. They had four children, Ernest “Dwaine”, Sharon G., Maynard Jr. “Mike”, and James “Daryl”. They were living in Craig, Colorado in 1980, when Nelda passed away.

After discharge from the U.S. Air Force, in 1958, Maynard left the electronic field, to work in electrical maintenance and construction. He worked for Adolph Coors Company. Later, He became a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local No. 68, Denver, Colorado. In 1996, Maynard retired from 30 years of work in the IBEW.

In 1981, in Craig, Colorado, Maynard married Maureen C. Meland (from Kenosha, Wisconsin).

Maynard was an Author, he had written seven books on Colorado history and one book of Kentucky “Short Stories”.

He is survived by: his wife Maureen, his brother; Clarance Henry Adams (Shirley), four sons: Robert (Judy), Ernest Dwaine, Maynard Jr. (Jill), James Daryl (Ronda), his daughter, Sharon (Adams) Pollock (Terald), eight grandchildren, and 15 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by: his father, Ernest in 1960, his mother, Ethel in 2004, and his son, Ronald David Adams.
