Merle Daniel, 85, passed away Monday, July 27, 2009 in Fort Worth. He was born to the late, Josiah Jonathan and Ann Bell Routh Daniel on September 26, 1923 in Breckinridge, Oklahoma. Merle married Josie M. Culpepper on February 8, 1944 in Lubbock, Texas. He served in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II as a pilot trainer. He owned and operated Merle's Garage in Plainview for over 45 years. He was a family man in every sense of the phrase. Merle was an avid Texas sports fan, especially of the Rangers, Mavericks, and Cowboys. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church for the past two years. He was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters as well as his parents. Merle's sense of humor and his desire for honesty and a sense of fair play in all that he did will be greatly missed by all those that knew and loved him.
He was survived by his wife, Josie Daniel of Cleburne; children, Dennis Daniel of Midland, Jana McClendon (Garry) of Cleburne, and Shelia Daniel (Don Cook) of Dallas; seven grandchildren; several great grandchildren; brothers, Wayne and Dale Daniel; sister in law, Audine Culpepper; as well as a host of other friends and relatives.
Funeral services will be held at Crosier Pearson Cleburne Funeral Chapel at 11:00 am, Thursday, July 30, 2009. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00pm at the funeral home on Wednesday, July 29, 2009.
