A private memorial will be held at a later date for Meryl Bainbridge, 72, of Grandview.
Mr. Bainbridge passed away on Saturday, May 6, 2023 in Arlington, Texas surrounded by loved ones. He was born to Clarence Hazen and Marjorie Dawn Dearborn Bainbridge on April 2, 1951 in Fort Fairfield, Maine. Meryl married his wife of almost 51 years, Elleta Hull Bainbridge on July 14, 1972 in Wichita Falls, Texas. He was of the Baptist faith. He and Elleta both grew up in missionary families serving in Africa. Meryl worked as an automobile mechanic and later authored historical fiction novels. He was known for a love of laughter, always the jokester or one to lighten the mood in any setting. He was an outdoorsman and lover of nature. Meryl was devoted to his family throughout his lifetime. He could be often found working on the numerous cars of various models and makes that he rebuilt and restored. Meryl will be greatly missed by those who knew him best. He was preceded in death by his parents (listed above).
Survivors include his wife, Elleta Bainbridge; son and daughter-in-law, Joshua and Amanda Bainbridge; daughter and son-in-law, Christine and Drew Howard; grandchildren, AbbyLynn Howard, Claire Howard, and Dean Howard; brothers and sisters-in-law, Matthew & Bobbie Bainbridge and Jon & Lynda Bainbridge; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
