Service for Michael D. Burns, 68, of Cleburne, will be conducted at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, Sept. 6, 2017 in the First Baptist Church of Cleburne. Dr. Danny Crosby and Dr. Steve Mullen will officiate. Burial will be in Baker-Lain Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Justin Campbell, Bobby Horton, Greg Fletcher, Jason Finch, Mike Campbell, Danny Wallace and Richard Jackson. Visitation will be from 6-8:00 P.M., Tuesday, at Crosier-Pearson Cleburne Funeral Home.
Michael D. Burns passed away Sunday, Sept. 3, 2017 in Ft. Worth. He was born June 17, 1949 in Corpus Christi, TX. He married Deborah Kay Cheek on March 1, 1969 in Corpus Christi.
Mr. Burns served his country in the United States Army. He was a plant manager at Texas Lime Plant, retiring with over 16 years of service. Michael was a member of New Hope Baptist Church, the Masonic Lodge No. 315, York Rite and Knights Templar. He was a family man first. He lived to serve others and delighted in his family. He was an avid golfer, a fisherman and the best husband, dad and granddad you could imagine.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 48 years, Debbie Burns of Cleburne; sons, DeWayne Burns and wife Jennifer and Jeffrey Burns, all of Cleburne; three grandchildren, Parker Burns, Austin Burns and Emma Burns, all of Cleburne; brothers, Danny Wallace and wife Carla and Richard Jackson and wife Diane, all of Corpus Christi; parents, Jack and Jackie Jackson of Corpus Christi; father-in-law, Grady Cheek; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Juanita Cheek.
