Services for Nancy Wakefield, 69, of Cleburne will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, September 29, 2010 in the Calvary Baptist Church. The Reverend Charles E. Payne will officiate. Burial will follow in Greenacres Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 6-8 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Nancy Knotts was born on April 29, 1941 in Houston, Texas and laid to rest September 25, 2010 after battling a long illness. She married Brian Wakefield on July 4th, 1959 in Coleman, Texas. Nancy was an active church member of Calvary Baptist Church in Cleburne, Texas since 1972.
Mrs. Wakefield was a loving and devoted wife, mother, sister and grandmother to much more than her immediate family. Nancy was a mother to everyone who came into her life. Her character was a reflection of her faith in Christ.
In the late fifties, Nancy fell in love with quilting that she had picked up from her aunt and Mrs. Puckett. She won several blue ribbons and trophies to her credit. She was a member of the Calvary Quilters and the Cleburne Quilt Guild as well as quilted for the Rainbow Room Crisis Center, Battered Children and Mothers and Calvary Church Youth Group. Her quilts touched the heart of anyone who saw them.
She will be missed by all who knew her and loved her. She was preceded in death by her parents and a special and talented son, Steven Lee Wakefield in 1985.
She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Brian Wakefield; her daughter, Kelley Fiman and husband Brad Fiman; a special grandson and granddaughter, Clay Wakefield and Kristin Fiman; as well as one great grandson; sisters, Cathy Evans, Kay St. Clair, Lolita Rawlins and a host of friends and relatives, including a special mechanic friend for over 40 years.
