Service for Nancy E. Talley, 70, of Cleburne will be conducted at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, June 9, 2018 at the Hitchin Post Chapel in Cleburne. Pastor Zip Gatton will officiate. A private family interment service will follow at Greenacres Memorial Park.
Nancy Talley passed away Wednesday, June 6, 2018 in Fort Worth. She was born October 23, 1947 in Corsicana to Robert and Lois Grimes Talley. Soon after, the family moved to Longview, Texas, where, upon graduating from school, Nancy took her first job in accounting and financial services, working as a bookkeeper for a local furniture store. Over the next 50 years, Nancy would build a successful career in her chosen field. In her last position, Ms. Talley was a Vice President for First Cash Financial Services.
Nancy’s passions also included cooking, traveling, football, and family--especially being a grandmother and great-grandmother. Her fried chicken and mashed potatoes were legendary, and her sopapilla cake was a staple at birthdays and Bible studies. For the past 20 years, every summer, she and her sisters have ventured to a new vacation destination, enjoying time together as well as savoring the culture and cuisine of many of America’s favorite locales. Nancy was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan and never missed a game. So great was her knowledge and commitment to the team, it has been said that she and her sister, Marie, should start their own commentary program. At home in Cleburne, Nancy along with Frank hosted regular Bible studies and helped many people in their neighborhood and community. There is no doubt, though, that Nancy’s favorite endeavor was being a grandmother and great grandmother.
Her survivors include the love of her life, Frank Reder of Cleburne; granddaughters, Leslie Davis of Cleburne and Casey Hutchison and husband Chris of Monroe, GA; four great grandchildren, Jakobi Wilborn, Allie Hutchison, John Hutchison and Sophia Davis; sisters, Kay Kubala of Fort Worth, Marie McClure and husband Mike of Jonesborough, TN, and Martha Rough and husband Joe of Mead, WA; Alice Henderson and husband Ed of Arlington; nephew, Jacob Rough; niece, Jennifer Rough; and a host of other loved ones and friends. Nancy was preceded in death by her parents and beloved daughter, Lisa Davis in 2017.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to your favorite animal shelter or to the Alzheimer Association, North Texas Chapter, 2630 W. Freeway, Suite 100, Fort Worth, Texas 76102-9845.
