Narcissus Whipp

Service for Narcissus Margaret Phebe Horne Whipp, 95, of Cleburne will be conducted at 2:00 P.M., Friday, October 25, 2013 in Calvary Baptist Church. The Reverend Charles E. Payne will officiate, assisted by the Reverend Earl Sides. Burial will be in Prices Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 P.M., Thursday, at the funeral home.

Mrs. Whipp passed away Tuesday, October 22, 2013 in Cleburne. She was born June 22, 1918 in Duncanville to Benjimin and Bennie Anne Emerson Horne. She married John Bascom Buster Whipp on October 14, 1938 in Duncanville and John preceded her in death on January 24, 1996.

Phebe, or Mammer, as she was known to her grandchildren, was a homemaker who always had cookies in her cookie jar. She loved to read her bible and won the Times-Review Bible Quiz several times. Phebe was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.

Survivors include her three daughters, Marilyn Bell and husband Paul of Godley, Laura Baize and husband Lloyd of Cleburne and Carol Johnson and husband Herman of Sand Flat; son-in-law, Bill Bonham; 10 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren; and brother, G.W. Pat Horne and wife Edna of Point. Phebe was also preceded in death by her parents; a son and daughter-in-law, George David and Debbie Whipp; daughter, Linda Bonham; and a brother, James Horne.
