Nell Martin

Nell Hollis Martin, 97, of Cleburne went peacefully to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, March 2, 2013. She was born in Ashley County, Arkansas on August 17, 1915, the daughter of Belle Dickson and William Hollis. She was the youngest of a family that included three “famous” brothers and three loving sisters.

She married Roy Hale Martin on November 1, 1937 and lived in Eldorado, McCamey and Sweetwater, Texas before residing in Cleburne for the past 36 years. Nell was a beautiful, strong and humble follower of Christ and was extraordinarily devoted to her family. MaMa, as she was known to her family, consistently reflected the love of Jesus and was a font of practical wisdom for her daughter, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Roy Hale Martin; her siblings, Charles D. Hollis, Lillian Hollis Rogers, Claude “Pete” Hollis, Everett “Eb” Hollis, Allie Hollis Hall, Lois Hollis; and her son-in-law, Jim Hagood.

She is survived by her daughter, Nancy Martin Hagood of Cleburne; three grandchildren, Julie Hagood Sheeder (Frank), Graham Hagood (Suzanne) and Ginger Hagood Jonason (Mike); six great grandchildren: Sam and Annie Sheeder; Jake and Gray Hagood; and Kara and Henry Jonason.

Services will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, March 8 in the Crosier-Pearson Cleburne Chapel in Cleburne. Mr. Graham Hagood and Chaplain Nancy Schneider will officiate. A graveside service will be held in Eldorado, Texas on Saturday, March 9 at 3:00 p.m. Visitation will be from 7-8:00 p.m., Friday, immediately following the service.
