Services for Nellie Estelle Holcombe, 95, of Cleburne will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 11, 2006 in the Crosier-Pearson Cleburne Chapel. The Rev. Mark Ely will officiate. Burial will be in Restland Cemetery at Roxton, Texas. Pallbearers will be David Eubanks, Dan Eubanks, Michael Scott, Leigh Holcombe, A.J. Donaldson, and Wayne Elam.
Nellie Estelle Holcombe passed away Sunday, October 8, 2006 in Keene. She was born July 27, 1911 in White House, Texas to James William and Laura Terry Jenkins. She grew up in southwestern Arkansas. She married Horace Cleveland Holcombe on December 23, 1931 in Levelland, Texas and resided in Roxton, Texas for many years.
She was a member of College Heights Baptist Church in Cleburne since 1976, where she taught a Sunday School class. She was a charter member of the Licensed Vocational Nurses Association of Texas, and worked at hospitals in Stanton and Abilene, Texas. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother. She enjoyed gardening, quilt making, sewing, cooking, singing, writing letters and reading.
Nellie Estelle Holcombe is survived by her daughter, Barbara Scott and husband Mickey of Cleburne; sons, Troy Tolcombe and wife Janis of College Station, Truman Holcombe of Houston; son-in-law, Charlie Eubanks of Cleburne; sister, Nettie Mitchell and husband Bural of Cleburne; sisters-in-law, Meleta Jenkins, of Grass Valley, California, Hazel Jenkins of Holdenville, Oklahoma; grandchildren, David Eubanks of Cleburne, Donna Steadman and husband Jim of Cleburne, Dan Eubanks and wife Amy of Southlake, Beverly Scott of Woodbridge, Virginia, Michael Scott and wife Ashley of Plano, Leigh Holcombe of College Station, Virginia Jackson and husband Brad of Pflugerville, Terry Zoch and husband Philip of Mililani, Hawaii; 13 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one daughter, Pauline Eubanks, one granddaughter, Diane Elam, three brothers and two sisters.
