Nelwyn Schnell

Nelwyn Schnell, 81, of Keene passed away Thursday, December 7, 2023 in Keene. She was born October 8, 1942 to Charles and Wilhena (Hill) Stevens in Alexandria, Louisiana. Nelwyn married Jerry Vernon Schnell on June 4, 1961 in Lincoln, Nebraska. Nelwyn taught herself to play the piano at an early age, which lead her to become a professional pianist, organist, and piano teacher. After her stroke in 2014, she continued to play the piano using only her left hand.

She also enjoyed reading and spending time with friends and family. Nelwyn was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.
Nelwyn is survived by her husband of 62 years, Jerry Vernon Schnell; daughters, Patricia Williams and husband John, Pamela Gilley and husband Frank Vallor; grandchildren, Hannah Williams, Chloe Gilley Rogers, Jimmy Gilley III and wife, Taylor; and lifelong friend Mary Guinn.

Nelwyn is preceded in death by her parents and brother Charles Allen Stevens Jr.
