A memorial service for Nettie Ruth Mitchell, 78, of Cleburne, will be conducted at 2:00 P.M., Friday, February 2, 2024 in the Crosier-Pearson Cleburne Chapel with Dr. John Hall officiating.
Nettie passed into glory Wednesday, January 24, 2024, in Plano. She was born January 10, 1946, in De Queen, Arkansas to James William and Rosa Della (Cagle) Jenkins. Nettie married Bural Frank Mitchell on July 3, 1965 in Paris, Texas. She was a member of Field Street Baptist Church.
Nettie had a number of paid and volunteer jobs over the years, working as an election judge, teacher’s aid, secretarial staff, and as a Christian school teacher, but she felt her most important work was as a homemaker and Sunday School teacher. Nettie’s imagination was fired by the joy and tenderness of children, and she was often heard singing “Jesus Loves the Little Children”” around her home. She also had an interest in the Jewish Passover, enjoyed a good joke, had an infectious laugh, and had a bit of a sweet tooth. Above all, Nettie loved family and had a great interest in genealogy. Even in her last days, she was often praying for her children and grandchildren by name. Now she is with her Creator and Redeemer, the source of all goodness and beauty, where all is made right and all is understood.
She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Bural F. Mitchell; sons, Philip Irving Mitchell and wife, Kristin, and James Thomas Mitchell; grandchildren, Noelle Mills and her husband, Matt, Grace Mitchell, Nathanael Mitchell, and Makaela Mitchell; numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Nettie was preceded in death by her parents; son, Marvin Andrew Mitchell; and seven siblings.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Children’s Advocacy Center of Johnson County.
