Service for Nita Willene “Bunny” Hazlett Anderson, 86, of Gainesville, Texas will be conducted at 2:00 P.M., Thursday, May 2, 2024, in Greenacres Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel with Reverend Ken Coleman officiating. Visitation will be held at 1:00 P.M., prior to the service. Burial will follow in Greenacres Memorial Park.
Bunny passed away Friday, April 26, 2024, in Gainesville. She was born October 14, 1937, in Cleburne to Sam Byrd and Leila Elizabeth (Denton) Hazlett. Bunny was a member of First Baptist Church Gainesville. She married Jimmy Anderson on March 20, 1959, in Cleburne and they were married for 65 years. Bunny lived with her husband, Jimmy in Gainesville, Texas for 40 years. From 1991 through 2004, Bunny and Jimmy owned and operated Scott Street Lawn and Garden in Gainesville. She was a loving mother and grandmother, and family was the center of her world. Bunny enjoyed quilting, needlepoint, and crocheting. She loved flowers and gardening. Bunny was a Past Worthy Matron of Eastern Star. She will be greatly missed by all that knew her.
Survivors include her husband, Jimmy; son, Gerald Anderson; daughters, Nita Anderson Embrey, and Beth Anderson; 6 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; sisters, Nadine Hazlett Jones and husband, Bill, and Janey Hazlett Johnson; along with a host of other relatives and friends.
Bunny was preceded in death by her parents, Sam Byrd and Leila Denton Hazlett; daughter, Mary Jane Anderson; and brother, Kenneth Eugene Hazlett.
