Nyka Waldrop

Graveside services for Nyka Ray Waldrop, 80, of Rockville, MD and formerly of Cleburne, TX, will be held at 11:30 AM on Wednesday, December 20, 2023 in the Rosehill Cemetery, Cleburne, Texas with Pastor Paul Tatum officiating. Visitation will be at 10 AM at Crosier Pearson.

Nyka Ray Waldrop passed away on Friday, December 1, 2023 in Olney, Maryland. She was born on January 20, 1943 in Manhattan, Kansas. Nyka married Ernest Alwin Waldrop on November 22, 1962, in Sherman, TX. They were married 27years at the time of his death in July of 1990. She was an active member of Pathways Baptist Church in Gaithersburg, Maryland. Nyka was family oriented. She took great pride in caring for her family and her home throughout her lifetime. Her grandchildren brought her great joy, above all others. She was known for her baking, especially her cookie platters that she often shared with others. She enjoyed traveling and was an avid reader. Nyka’s love of family, strong faith and her giving nature will be remembered for years and generations to follow. She is preceded in death by her parents, Ralph Virgil Duke and Clyde Omega Shriner Duke; and husband, Ernest Alwin Waldrop.

Survivors include her two daughters, Nikky Cogdell & her husband, Kennon and Deana O’Hearn; six grandchildren, Riley, Charlie, Collin, Reagan, Tim, and Tom; two brothers, Randy Duke and Kent Duke; numerous nieces, nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.
