Odessa Skiles

Graveside services for Odessa Elizabeth Tidwell Skiles, 85, of Cleburne, will be conducted at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, August 6, 2011 in the Greenacres Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 P.M. at the funeral home on Friday.

Mrs. Skiles passed away following a lengthy illness on Wednesday, August 3, 2011 at her home surrounded by loved ones. She was born to Ross and Velma Tidwell on June 9, 1926 in Cleburne. She met and married the love of her life, William H. "Dub" Skiles, Sr. on July 17, 1941. Odessa was a lifelong homemaker and loved being a wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Cleburne where she taught Sunday school for many years. Odessa was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister, Helen Johnnie Lou Medford; and brothers, Otis Ezell Tidwell and Ross M. Tidwell.

Survivors include her oldest son, William Skiles, Jr.; her daughter and caregiver, Elizabeth Helen Scott and her husband, Ronny; grandchildren, Tiffany Skiles, Whitney Hurtado and husband, Jose, Ashley Coggin and her husband, Brent, Corey Loven, Brandy Scott, Eric Scott, and William "Trey" Skiles, III.; great grandchildren, Alejandro Hurtado, Dakota, Chase and Emery Coggin, and another she looked forward to with great anticipation in September, Carlos Hurtado.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Cheryl Pritchett and Tiffany Hunsaker, two of Odessa's caretakers from VITAS Hospice for their kindness and support.
