Olan West

Services for Olan B. West, 86, of Cleburne will be conducted at 10:00 A.M. Friday, February 18, 2011 in the Greenacres Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel, Cleburne. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 P.M. on Thursday, February 17, 2011 at the funeral home.

Mr. West passed away on Saturday, February 12, 2011 in Fort Worth. He was born to Edward Lee and Nora Victoria Hollingsworth West on February 20, 1924 in Hill County, Texas. He married Mamie Jewel Franks on December 18, 1969 in Weatherford, Texas. Olan was of the Baptist faith. He worked for many years as a police officer both with the cities of Fort Worth and Arlington, specifically at Lake Arlington. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Fort Worth. Olan served in the United States Army Air Corps from 1943-1945 and the United States Air Force from 1947-1949. His independent spirit and big hearted nature will be missed greatly by all those who knew and loved him. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and siblings, Carl West, Troy West, Little Travis West and Elmer Lee West.

Survivors include his son, Jack West and his wife, Sharon; grandchildren, Nick West and Kelli West; great grandchildren, Camden, Cameron, Taybor, Maile and Logan; siblings, Guy West, Edward Lee West, Jr. and Francis West; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
