Service for Ophelia Phoebe Mullen, 94, of Cleburne, will be conducted at 2:30 P.M., Saturday, April 6, 2013 in the Crosier-Pearson Cleburne Chapel. Burial will be in Rosehill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8:00 P.M., Friday, at the funeral home.
Ophelia Phoebe Mullen passed away April 3, 2013 in Alvarado. She was born Dec. 28, 1918 in Brazos Point to William Z. and Mattie Ann Seago Cheek. She married James Monroe Mullen on July 15, 1938 in Bono and he preceded her in death in May of 1992.
Phoebe was a homemaker. She loved her Lord and her family. She was a very active volunteer in her church. She enjoyed entertaining the grandchildren and having family reunions. She also enjoyed traveling and working in her flower beds and rock garden. Phoebe was a member of the Home Demonstration Club in her younger years. She was a lifelong Church of Christ member and a member of Granbury Street Church of Christ since the 1960s. Her loving, sweet spirit will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Survivors include her sons and their spouses, Dale Mullen and Renate, Phillip Mullen and Vicki and Don Mullen and Patti; grandchildren, Peter, Patricia, Delisha, Kristina, Jace, James, Amy, Kim, Ashley, Melissa, Carrie and Adele; 22 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; brothers, Grady Cheek and wife Juanita and Wayne Cheek and wife Nell; several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. She was also preceded in death by her parents; a son, Gene Paul Mullen; grandson, Paul Mullen; and five siblings, Lucille Choate, Merle Cheek, Dubb Cheek, Clead Cheek and Ben Doyle Cheek.
