Orville Gathings

Graveside service with military honors for Orville Ray Gathings, 84, of Burleson will be conducted at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, April 14, 2012 in Covington Cemetery. No visitation is scheduled.

Mr. Gathings passed away Wednesday, April 11, 2012 in Ft. Worth. He was born Nov. 9, 1927 in Ft. Worth. Orville spent most of his life in Covington, where his family had been for several generations. He married Billie Margaret Sparks.

Mr. Gathings served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and worked in the aerospace industry for 60 years before retiring. He was a kind, sweet gentleman with a giving spirit who loved fishing and working in the yard. He loved to sing and whistle and was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include his sister Jean Savely; several nieces and nephews; cousins, Judy McCall and Pamela Coleman and a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Billie Margaret Gathings on July 19, 2000, one brother and two sisters.
