Owengene Blackwood

Services for Owengene Blackwood, 88, of Cleburne will be conducted at 2:00 P.M., Monday, Dec. 28, 2009 in the Crosier-Pearson Cleburne Chapel. The Reverend Earl Whitehead will officiate. Burial will be in the Lightfoot Cemetery. Pallbeareres will be Jeffrey Blackwood, Jason Blackwood, Dane Blackwood, Don Blackwood and Hugh Pettigrew. Honorary Pallbeaerers will be Tommy Tomlinson, Ron Garey and Frank Raso. Visitation will be from 4-6 P.M., Sunday at the funeral home.
Mr. Blackwood passed away Thursday, Dec. 24, 2009 in Cleburne. He was born Sept. 28, 1921 in Johnson County to Will and Julia Lightfoot Blackwood. He married Helen Pettigrew in Dallas over 50 years ago. Mr. Blackwood owned and operated Blackwood Airpark and Blackwood Sand and Gravel. He was and accomplished pilot and flight instructor for over 60 years and was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his wife, Helen Blackwood of Cleburne; two sons, Larry Blackwood and wife Phyllis of Waco and William Blackwood and wife Sandy of Fairfield and three grandchildren, Jeff Blackwood, Jason Blackwood and Dane Blackwood.
