Memorial services for Paul Delano Smith, Sr. MSgt (USAF, Ret), 77, will be held at 2:30 PM, on Saturday, February 12, 2011, in the Chapel at First United Methodist Church, Cleburne, TX.

Paul lost his battle with cancer on Tuesday, February 8, 2011, in Fort Worth, TX. He was born to George Garland and Orpah Alice Cayton Smith on August 4, 1933, in Plainview, TX. He graduated from Plainview High School in 1951. After attending Baylor University and New Mexico State where he received an "education," he enlisted in the United States Air Force. While at his first assignment in Mather Field, CA, he met the love of his life, Jeannette Marie Sadler. They married on June 30, 1954 and continued the romance until Jan's passing on November 17, 2007. During his 21 years of active service his assignments included Japan, Texas, Hawaii, Oregon, Newfoundland, Arizona and Thailand. Paul was a Veteran of both the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He retired from the Air Force in 1974 at Luke AFB, AZ. While supporting his family he continued his education and earned his Bachelor of Education degree from Arizona State University in Tempe, AZ in 1978. Paul finished his working years as a LAN Manager for the State of Arizona. Paul and Jan both retired in 1986 to begin RV'ing around the country they both loved, visiting friends and family at every turn, expressing their motto "Having fun is job one".

Paul was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and siblings, Jay D. Smith and Alice Schreiber.

Survivors include his children and their spouses: Cathline B. Stone and Scott R., Paul Delano Smith, Jr., Marie O. Mills and Steven J., Teresa L. Smith, and James D Smith and JoAnne; grandchildren: Eugina M. Smith, Katherine A. Smith, Douglas P. Smith, Myra A. Mills, and Kristi L. Mills; great grandchildren: Max A. Carrell, Hunter D. Carrell, and Charlotte A. Carrell; siblings: Betty Cirillo, Peggy Dodson, and Garland Smith; numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.

He was loved and will be missed by all. He will be cremated and his ashes interred at National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, 23029 North Cave Creek Road, Phoenix, AZ, 85024 next to his beloved wife at a later date.
