Service for Pauline E. Buckner, 92, of Cleburne will be conducted at 10:00 A.M., Thursday, July 28, 2016 in the Crosier-Pearson Cleburne Chapel. The Reverend Alton Ashby will officiate. Burial will be in Rosehill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jason Witherspoon, Justin Witherspoon, Clint Witherspoon, Mike Buckner, Steven Buckner, Ray Buckner, and Evan Melton. Honorary pallbearers will be Dick Powers and Dwayne Vaughn. Visitation will be from 6-8:00 P.M., Wednesday, at the funeral home.
Pauline E. Buckner passed away Sunday, July 24, 2016 in Grandview. She was born March 7, 1924 in Ft. Worth to Claude and Mary Luster Duncan. She married Thomas Banister Buckner on Jan. 27, 1943 in Ft. Worth and he preceded her in death on Dec. 1, 2002.
Mrs. Buckner attended Texas Wesleyan University. She and her husband owned and operated Buckner Custom Homes for over 25 years and was owner and operator of Haltom Memorial Convalescent Center in Haltom City for many years. She was a member of the Church of the Nazarene for 70 years and was currently a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Burleson. She was a lifelong resident of Tarrant and Johnson County, living on her ranch in the Liberty Chapel Community in Johnson County for the past 47 years. She was one of the charter members of the Johnson County Republican Women’s Club, where she served faithfully and tirelessly for 30 years.
Survivors include her daughter, Debbie Buckner Witherspoon and husband David of Cleburne; son, Gary Buckner and wife Linda of Ft. Worth; four grandchildren, Jason Witherspoon and wife Meghan, Jennifer Witherspoon Melton, Shelly Buckner, and Carrie Buckner Smith and husband Darren; eight great grandchildren, Zoe Witherspoon, Deacon Witherspoon, Evan Melton, Madix Lin Melton, Kassadi Walsworth, Savannah Gleckler, Cameron Smith, and Jayden Smith; numerous nieces and nephews and extended family of care givers, Linda Drake, and Maria Galindo. She was also preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, Virgil Duncan and Jewel Duncan.
