An Inurnment Service for Phillip Maxey will be conducted on Sunday, May 16, 2021 at 1:30 P.M. in the Keene Cemetery. Chaplin Don Anderson will officiate.
Phillip Elgie Maxey, 84, of Cleburne passed away April 1, 2021 at his home in Cleburne. He was born March 27, 1937 in Sabine County, Texas to Elgie and Elvada Maxey. He moved around a lot with his parents when in school. Phillip attended Southwestern Junior College in Keene, Texas. Then went to Union College in Lincoln, Nebraska. He worked for a CPA in Dallas, worked in a dairy plant in Loma Linda, California. Phillip moved back to Texas and worked at Temple Wood Mill in Pineland. He then moved to Keene and worked at Brandom Kitchen Cabinet Plant until retiring. While working at Brandom’s he met and married Mary Nutt in July 1989.

Phillip enjoyed being in the outdoors, walking, hunting and fishing. He also liked talking about food and how it was made especially campfire cooking. He enjoyed sitting around the campfire talking and telling stories about being in the woods and fishing. He enjoyed being with his family.

Phillip is survived by his wife, Mary Maxey of Cleburne; children, Lloyd Maxey of Arlington, Cynthia (Quita) Boley and husband James of Keene, Velda Claxton and husband Eddie of Sulphur Springs, Colleen Maxey of Sulphur Springs; Robert Maxey of Oklahoma; 4 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and several cousins.

Phillip is preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Sharron; and aunts and uncles.
