Ray Allison

Ray Allison, 83, longtime resident of Cleburne passed away Friday, September 11, 2009 in Fort Worth. He was born to the late, Jim and Pearl Allison in Colorado City, Texas on October 23, 1925. He retired from the cemetery department with the City of Cleburne in 1990 after 20 years service and owned and operated A&A Taxi for 10 years prior to working with the city. He was an avid vegetable gardener, enjoyed playing 42, and was a fan of the Texas Rangers. In his younger years he enjoyed riding horses and roping. It has been said that Ray never met a stranger. His outgoing and friendly nature and jokester spirit will be missed by all those that knew and loved him. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Dell Allison; grandson, Jonathan R. Allison; brothers, J.T. and Tommy Allison; and infant sister, Goldie Allison.

Service: 2:00pm, Monday, September 14, 2009 at Crosier Pearson Cleburne Funeral Chapel. Burial: Rosehill Cemetery. Visitation: 2:00-4:00pm, Sunday, September 13, 2009 at the funeral home. in leiu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, 1311 Mamaroneck Avenue, Suite 310, White Plains, NY 10605, ww.leukemia.org .
Survivors include his son, Alton R. Allison and wife, Pam; daughter, Barbara Ann Lathem and husband, Jim; four grandchildren, David, Angela, Melissa, and Stephanie; four great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; brother, Eldon Allison and wife, Gladys; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
