A memorial service for Ray Mahan, 67, of Covington will be conducted at 10:00 A.M., Thursday, Nov. 17, 2016 in the Derden Cemetery in Hill County.
Ray Mahan passed from this earth on Nov. 14, 2016, after a courageous seven-year battle with cancer. He was born Jan. 29, 1949 in Quanah, TX and married Paula Bullard on March 4, 1983 in Derden.
Ray was known to have a quick wit and to some was very opinionated. However, his intentions were always meant to be good.
Ray’s greatest passion in life was the FFA and what he could do to instill hard work and good values to all of his students. He enjoyed the many successes of his Blum students during his tenure there.
His family includes his beloved wife of 34 years, Paula; daughter, Randi and husband Adrian of Crossroads; daughter, Holly and husband Will of Dallas; daughter, Jill and partner James of Covington; and most importantly, the loves of his life, his grandchildren, Max and Kait. His universe revolved around them and their FFA projects.
In lieu of flowers, it was Ray’s wish that donations be directed to the Covington FFA Program, 501 N. Main St., Covington, TX 76636 for assistance with students’ FFA projects. It was his passion to see that all students did well with their projects.
We would like to thank all of you who called, wrote and kept in contact with us during these past few weeks, and especially to those who have been through this seven year ordeal with us. We’re forever grateful of your tolerance. Lastly to Mission Hospice, who helped to make our lives bearable because of their love and understanding of our situation. We will miss their compassion and kinsmanship.
