Services for Ray Prather, 73, of Rio Vista, will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, December 21, 2010 in the First Baptist Church, Rio Vista. Pastor Neale Oliver and Dr. Dale Lucus will officiate. Burial will follow in the Rio Vista Cemetery. Michael Ray Prather, Daron Otwell, Byron Cobb, Tye Cobb, John Kennedy, and James Allen will serve as pallbearers. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 P.M. on Monday at the funeral home.
Mr. Prather passed away in Fort Worth on Saturday, December 18, 2010. He was born July 5, 1937 in Cleburne to John Ellis and Effie Lee Jones Prather. Ray married Betty in 1958 in Blum, Texas. Ray was a dairy and cattle farmer for many years. Tending to his cattle and spending time outdoors in general were some of his greatest joys. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Rio Vista, where he served as a deacon. Ray served as Past President of the Rio Vista Cemetery Association. Ray was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Johnnie Mae Gilliam and niece, Janet. He will be missed greatly by all who knew and loved him.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Prather of Rio Vista; son, Toney Ray Prather and wife, Terrie of DeLeon; daughter, Tammy Prather of Stephenville; granddaughter, Jennifer Otwell and husband, Daron of Midlothian; grandson, Michael Ray Prather and wife, April of Clovis, NM; brother, Billy Prather and wife, Sue of Burleson; as well as several other relatives and friends.
