A Celebration of Life for Raymond Lee Luther, 89, of Cleburne, Texas, will be held privately.
Raymond passed away peacefully in the arms of his loving wife on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, in Cleburne. Born on October 5, 1935, in Godley, Texas, he dedicated his life to his family, community, and country. He married Sparrow (Ridha) Joe, on February 22, 2007, in Cleburne. Raymond proudly served in the United States Air Force for over 22 years, contributing to the safety and security of the nation. Within 10 years of retiring, he achieved the rank of Technical Staff Sergeant supporting the U-2 Spy Planes. His professional career included significant roles in law enforcement, working for the Division of Corrections in Fairbanks, Alaska, from 1973 to 1978, followed by the Johnson County Texas Sheriff’s Department from 1979 to 1985, where he served as acting Deputy Chief for 18 months. He also served as Chief of Police for Venus, Texas, from 1986 to 1987, and concluded his law enforcement career at the Tarrant County Sheriff’s Department from 1987 to 1999.
A devoted member of his community, Raymond was involved with the Cleburne Masonic Lodge #315, Nolands River Lodge #453, Cleburne Chapter #100, Cleburne Council #61, and Cleburne Community #12. His faith was also an important aspect of his life, as he attended Henderson Street Baptist Church. Raymond will be deeply missed by all who knew him, remembered for his dedication to his family, his service to his community, and his unwavering spirit.
Raymond is survived by his wife, Sparrow Joe; daughter, Nichole Goforth; son-in-law, Chris Goforth; grandsons, Donovan Goforth, and Durand Jacques; and granddaughter, Kaia Goforth.
He was preceded in death by his parents, T.J. Luther and Thelma.
