Raymond Vogeler, 59, loving husband, proud father and devoted Papa, passed from his wife's loving arms into the Lord's on Wednesday, August 3, 2011 in Alvarado.
Funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 P.M., Sunday, August 7, 2011 in the Bono Baptist Church in Godley. Burial will be in Bono Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8 P.M. Saturday at the funeral home.
Ray was born Dec. 11, 1951 in Gueydan, LA to Oliver and Audrey Vogeler. As a child he moved with his family to Momence, IL. and graduated Momence High School. After proudly serving his country in the U.S. Army, he met and married Janet Meeks from Grand Park, IL. in 1974. Ray attended Prairie State College where he became a certified machinist, and was employed at Chicago Hts. Steel. In 1988 he moved with his wife and daughter to Texas, where he was employed as a truck driver for Tree of Life Distributing Co.
A simple man of quiet integrity, he touched the hearts of all who met him. He loved the Lord and cherished his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister.
Ray leaves behind his wife, Janet; daughter, Alicia Anne Gibbs and husband James and treasured granddaughters, Olivia Rae Gibbs and Samantha Eileen Gibbs, all of Keller; brothers, John H. Vogeler of Momence, IL and Dennis Vogeler and wife Patricia of Richmond TX.; several loving aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
