A visitation and celebration of life is planned for Wreginald “Reggie” Waylon Jones, 55, of Christiansted, St. Croix, May 27, 2023, from 6:00-8:00 P.M., in the Crosier-Pearson Cleburne Funeral Home.
We mournfully announce the passing of Reggie Jones. Reggie passed away on May 4, 2023, after a courageous battle with cancer. Reggie was born on June 28, 1967, in Cleburne, TX. He spent his entire childhood in Cleburne, attended Cleburne schools, and went on to attend the University of Texas in Austin and Ambassador College in Big Sandy. Reggie was the proud father of six children: Lyric (Chris), Chelsey (David), Tommy, Hannah, Jordan Jones, and Jordan Shook (Colton). He is also survived by his parents Scarlot Jones of Cleburne and Thomas “Reggie” Jones of Bedford (Chris), his siblings Rachael (Ron), Rebel (Diana), Roman (Sharon), Ryan (Karen), and Dillon, and a number of grandchildren, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Everyone who knew Reggie knows his profound love of music. He learned to play the guitar at an early age and played it his entire life. He named his firstborn Lyric! He saw so many rock concerts from the 80’s to modern day. Every close family member has a story of how Reggie touched their lives in some way through music. His love of music found its way into one of his first tattoos: just music notes on his bicep, but many may have never known the meaningful song beneath those notes:
There are places I'll remember ● All my life, though some have changed
Some forever, not for better ● Some have gone and some remain
All these places had their moments ● With lovers and friends, I still can recall
Some are dead and some are living ● In my life, I've loved them all
But of all these friends and lovers ● There is no one compares with you
And these memories lose their meaning ● When I think of love as something new
Though I know I'll never lose affection ● For people and things that went before
I know I'll often stop and think about them ● In my life, I love you more (“In My Life” – The Beatles)
Reggie always walked to the beat of his own drum. He was able to fulfill his adventurous dream of beach living by moving to St. Croix over five years ago after his first cancer diagnosis. He fell in love with this beautiful island where many friends and family came to visit. Reggie was known for loving passionately, standing up for causes he believed in, and celebrating life in spite of many difficulties. He never let the pain of cancer ruin his love of life even to the very end. He is missed by all who loved him, but he would want us all to celebrate the life he was able to live.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Meals on Wheels of North Central Texas (https://www.mownct.org/) in honor of Reggie.
