Services for Reta Ward, 76, of Blum will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2009 in the Crosier-Pearson Cleburne Chapel. Pastor Tom Wood will officiate. Burial will be in the Blum Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Levi Kade McPherson, Michael Pipkin, Jesse Pipkin, Larry Brinkley, Chester Mosley, Jr., Chanse Murrah, Paul Snider, Jr. and Seth King.
Mrs. Ward passed away Sunday, Feb. 14, 2009 in Ft. Worth. She was born April 26, 1932 in Blum, to Odell and Lois Lucille Brown Brinkley. She married Cletus Ince Ward on Feb. 17, 1950 in Blum. Mrs. Ward was a member of the First Baptist Church of Blum and attended the Blum United Methodist Church. She was a title clerk for 20 years for the Cowpasture Bank in Rio Vista, retiring in 1998 and was a member of the Blum Order of the Eastern Star #931 for 44 years. "Granny was a wonderful mother and grandmother; not only to her children and grandchildren but to their friends as well. She would welcome everyone into her home with open arms and her famous "yoo hoo" . She was loved by all who knew her and will be greatly missed".
A special "Thanks" goes to the Advantage Home Health and to Community Hospice".
Mrs. Ward is survived by her daughter, Terri McPherson and husband Richard of Blum; son, Douglas Ward and wife Theresa of Cleburne; 6 grandchildren, Sabrina and husband Chanse, Levi Kade and fiance Rachel, Kaelyn, Bailey, Hannah, Cara and husband Paul, Michael and wife Jamie and Jesse; 7 great grandchildren; four brothers, Wayne Brinkley, Odell Brinkley, Jr., Robert Brinkley and Neal Brinkley; two sisters, Norma Walls and Barbara Pinnow; two sisters in law, Irma "Bo" Brinkley and Joyce Hurst and a number of nieces and nephews and many friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Cletus Ward on Sept. 20, 1993; grandparents, Ollie and Bertha Brinkley; four brothers, Garland and Bud Brinkley, Donny and Ricky Nichols.
