Services for Retha Miller Stinson, 92, of Cleburne will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 19, 2015, in the Crosier-Pearson Cleburne Chapel. Mr. David Berryman will officiate. Burial will be in Covington Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Robert Russell, Lowell Dodge, Brad Stinson, Brandon Stinson and Marty Stinson. Honorary pallbearer will be Don Russell. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Retha Miller Stinson passed away Thursday, Jan. 15, 2015, in Keene. She was born Aug. 26, 1922, in Covington to Carl Albert and Charlotte Elizabeth Long Miller and was the valedictorian of her 1939 graduating class at Covington. She married James “Jim” Fred Stinson on May 24, 1941, in Hillsboro and he preceded her in death on June 16, 2005.
Mrs. Stinson was a homemaker. She had previously worked as a secretary for S&S Paint and Body Shop and as a receptionist at Martin Funeral Home. Playing 42 and telling stories were her favorite hobbies. She was a member of Westhill Church of Christ. She loved her family very much and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Survivors include children, Brenda Dodge and husband, Tommy, of Midlothian, Betty Cook and husband, John, of Cleburne, David Stinson and wife, Teri, of Joshua, and Danny Stinson and wife, Terry, of Arlington; grandchildren, Karen Hoover and husband, Terry, of Houston, Don Russell and wife, Amy of North Carolina, Robert Russell and wife, Patty, of Cleburne, Rene Myers and husband, Doug, of Abilene; Lowell Dodge and wife, Valerie, of Midlothian, Diana Hayton and husband, Edward, of Burleson, Brad Stinson and wife, Laura, of Frisco, Brandon Stinson and wife, Andrea, of Arlington, Marty Stinson of Stephenville, Tim Cook of Cleburne, Matt Cook and wife, Christy, of Alvarado, Jonathan Cook and Amy Oliver, both of Fort Worth; 25 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; brother, Bob Miller of Arlington; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.
She was also preceded by her parents; grandsons, Brody Stinson and Lindon Dodge; great-granddaughter, Chelsea Hayton; two sisters, Geraldine Stepp and Dorothy Curington; and brother, Joseph “Sonny” Miller.
The family would like to give a special thank you to Mission Hospice and Town Hall Estates for their loving, compassionate care.
