Visitation for Richard “Dick” Lane Bridges, 91, of Arlington, will be at Crosier–Pearson Cleburne Funeral Home Monday, January 8, 2024, from 10:00am – 12:00pm followed by Graveside services conducted at 1:00pm at the Godley Cemetery in Godley, TX. Pallbearers will be Benjamin Belmont, Joshua Townley, Parker Hawkins, Brandon Wallace, Jett Good and Scott Perkins.
Dick passed away Monday, January 1, 2024, in Arlington at the age of ninety-one. He was born July 28, 1932, in Dalhart to John Henry and Edna Earl (Willis) Bridges. Dick married Helen Petty on June 6, 1953, and was a member of Godley Methodist Church.
An Air Force Veteran, Dick’s service included time spent in Iceland during the Korean War. While serving his country, Dick mastered the knowledge and skills of automotive body work which provided the foundation and with his entrepreneur spirit, he owned and operated Bridges Auto Body for many years in Arlington, Texas.
Dick’s true love and passion was Country Music. As a professional Country Music artist, Dick spent a lifetime creating and performing music. He was a member of the house band at the famed Fort Worth Panther Hall which allowed him to perform with the likes of Willie Nelson, Dolly Parton, and Tanya Tucker just to mention a few. His band Low Water Crossing was a local favorite with performances at the Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo, Chisholm Trail Days, and other venues across North Texas. His crowning achievement was to adorn the stage of the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, Tennessee, performing with the Light Crust Doughboys. His musical success included the induction to the Cowtown Society of Western Music Hall of Fame.
Dick is survived by his daughters: Cindy Hawkins of Carrollton, Marsha Belmont of Arlington, Joanne Fletcher of Burleson, Connie Good of Benbrook, and April Wallace of Arizona; grandchildren: Parker Hawkins, Rebecca Belmont, Benjamin Belmont, Sabrina Belmont, Joshua Townley, Noelle Hardy, Savannah Walker, Carly Good, Jett Good, Michael Wallace, Brandon Wallace, and Jennifer Wallace; great-grandchildren: Clara Belmont, Morgan Belmont, Olivia Belmont, Dax Belmont, Emma Hardy, Ashleigh Hardy, Hudson Hardy, Doc Walker, Ruby Walker, Wyatt Walker; brother: Johnny Bridges of Arlington; and companion: Melody Perkins of Arlington.
