Service for Richard “JR” “Pops” Zimmerman, 78, of Joshua, will be conducted at 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, April 3, 2018 in the Crosier-Pearson Cleburne Chapel. Pastor Dwaun Ashley will officiate, assisted by Mr. Bill Bailey. Burial will follow in Greenacres Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Tony Martinez, Ron Bolz, Jared Gaskin, Aaron George, Doug Minchey, Larry Jones, and Luke Fergason. Visitation will be from 6-8:00 P.M., Monday, at the funeral home.
Mr. Zimmerman passed away Thursday, March 29, 2018 in Cleburne. He was born January 23, 1940 in Lancing, MI to Kenneth T. and Iola Mildred Spalding Zimmerman. He married Judy Charlene Bailey on July 20, 1984 in Euless.
Richard was the owner and operator of JR’s Corner Store for many years. Afterwards he worked in the electronics dept. of Cleburne Wal-Mart from 2004 – 2016, retiring with 12 years of service. He loved golfing, fishing and studying history.
Survivors include his beloved wife, Judy Zimmerman of Joshua; daughters, Shannon Batista of Downey, CA, Tammy Martinez and husband Tony of Burleson, and Angie Bolz and husband Ron of Ft. Myers, FL; son, Steven Carver of Ft. Worth; seven grandchildren; four great grandchildren; sisters, Juanita and Linda, both of MI; aunt, Dorothy Leyer of Slidell, LA; mother-in-law, Jo Bailey of Cleburne; and many other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother.
