Richard Taylor

John Richard Taylor IV (Richard) age 54, was born on February 2, 1969 in Freeport, Texas, to Ruth and John Richard Taylor III. John and Ruth graduated from Sam Houston State University and moved back to Brazoria County in 1975. Richard made lifelong friends in Lake Jackson and attended Brazoswood High School and graduated class of 1990.

He enjoyed helping his dad in his Corvette shop and taking his friends on joy rides in many show corvettes and trucks- a child’s dream! Richard’s true passion was rocking out and playing his electric guitar in his room to heavy metal bands like Pantera and The Cure with his friends. His siblings were always begging him to play his many electric guitars for them. (Oh man OUR BIG BROTHER WAS AWESOME!!)

Later Richard attended Austin Community College for two years and moved back home to graduate from Alvin Community College from the Police Academy with dreams of joining law enforcement.

Growing up Richard spent his summers and time with his sweet and loving mother, Ruth Taylor, and his Grandparents (Brewer) in Cleburne, Texas on hundreds of acres of God’s land that they owned. They would take walks down by the Brazos River enjoying nature and they loved watching tennis matches along with other sports together.

Once Richard’s mother, Ruth, became ill with a genetic disease, he left everything to tend to her in Cleburne, which any son would do, until her passing in 2005. He remained in Cleburne long after the passing of his mother to take care of their family’s land. In Richard’s prime, we found out that he had the same illness as his mother which crushed our family. As his illness progressed, he moved in with his father and mother (Laurie), and in the final stages, he had to be admitted into an assisted living home in Angleton, Texas. Our parents loved and cared for him along with the amazing caregivers who did everything possible to make him comfortable until the very end for which we are greatly appreciative.

One May 12, 2023, Richard lost his battle with this genetic disease and took his final breaths with his loving family by his side.

He is preceded by Ruth Brewer (Mother), Marion and Lucille Brewer (paternal grandparents), John Taylor Jr. and Barbara Taylor (paternal grandparents), Ortensia Gusman (grandmother), and Brett Taylor (Uncle).

He is survived by John Richard Taylor III (father) and Laurie Taylor (mother), Richard was the oldest of four loving siblings. Sister, Priscilla Munoz (Luis), brother, Gilbert Ramirez, Jr. (Amanda), sister, Corrina Bickham (Ryan), several Aunts and Uncles along with many nephews, and nieces, as well as numerous great-nephews and great- nieces.
