Ricky Cook

Visitation for Ricky Don Cook, 34 of Weatherford, Texas will be held from 6-8:00 pm on Thursday August 8, 2019 at Crosier-Pearson Funeral Home. Services will be held in Terral, Oklahoma on Saturday August 10, 2019 at 10 am with burial in Terral Cemetery near his maternal grandparent’s family ranch. His final resting place is fitting as he was very fond of the ranch, making mention on several occasions that it was his “happy place” where he could go for all to be right again.
Ricky Don left his Earthly home on Sunday August 4, 2019 in Godley, Texas. His life was short buthis life was worthy, and he was valued by many. He was born on April 18, 1985 in Wichita Falls to Ronald and Edwina (Smith) Cook. He was currently employed by Eurovia as a Foreman in the road construction industry, which was fitting for him as there were few things Ricky loved more than being outdoors.
When you think of Ricky you think good old-fashioned country boy with a rock and roll side. His heart was torn between Texas and Oklahoma and he would have loved to have been Hunting, fishing and loving every day! Ricky was a bit rowdy in his younger days possibly giving his parents a few gray hairs prematurely. He made some life choices that he lived with, but he strived to not let them define him. He became a father at a young age and there was nothing he loved more in this world then his little girl. Uncle Ricky was a title he earned not necessarily by blood, but by simply being the genuine all-around good guy that he was, kids just gravitated to him and he was most definitely in his element when surrounded by the littles. He met his wife in Weatherford where they married on February 5, 2017 when he became a bonus father to two children he claimed as his own and ultimately one recently gave him the title of Pops. Ricky enjoyed sharing his love for the outdoors with the kids. He always said, “it didn’t matter how many fish you caught, it was the memories you made that count!”
He had a smile that would light up any room and an infectious laugh you would recognize in a crowd. Ricky didn’t want to be the center of attention, but he could sure make the group laugh. He was a charmer and always had a way with the ladies. Despite the fleshy human mistakes he had made in his lifetime, when it came to a good heart, his was hard to beat.
When Ricky wasn’t working or spending time with family you could find him with one of his buddies near some cold-water fishing in the summer or around a firepit placing bets on the Cowboys in the fall. This group of lifelong friends are a brotherhood more than just friends. His absence will be deeply felt by these brothers, but his memory will live on forever through the stories they will tell.
Survivors include his wife, Jackee Cook of Weatherford; daughters, Madison Cook of Blum and Callee Gaston of Weatherford; son, Austin Ramirez of Weatherford; mother, Edwina Parker of Fort Worth; father, Ronald Cook of Albany; stepmother Becky Cook of Albany; granddaughter Paislee Ramirez; grandparents, Edwin and Wanda Smith of Wichita Falls; uncles, Edwin Smith, Jr. of Bridgeport, Robert Cook of Winston Salem, North Carolina, Richard Cook of Fort Worth, and Roger Cook of Frederick, Oklahoma; and aunt, Linda Cole of Georgia. As well as numerous other family and friends that he considered family.
