On December seventh, two thousand and twenty, The Lord called home his Beautiful Son.
Ricky Devell Jay was born on August 30th 1948, in Waco to Hubert Beverly and Josephine K. Bass.
Ricky was an adventurous soul. As a young boy, his inquisitive nature, lead him through mystifying journeys.
In 1968, Ricky served in the Hiep Duc, Que Son Valley, of the Republic of Vietnam. Ricky was in the 196 Light Infantry Brigade, 4-31 Bravo.
During his time in Vietnam, Ricky was selected to attend Sniper school in Da Nang.
Ricky’s time in Vietnam, would forever shape his life.
Ricky married the Love of his Life, Vicki Lawrence, on August 27, 1977.
Their Love, stood the test of time, spending 44 years together, as Husband and Wife.
They both established for their Son, an inspiring relationship of Unity and Grace.
The foundation of Ricky’s determined spirit, was grounded in his Wife and Son.
Ricky was with his Wife, Daughter in Law and Son, when he entered his Eternal Birth.
Ricky is survived by his wife, Vicki Jay, Son Michael Jay and wife Jacinda. Grandsons, Beau Jay, Jordan Jay and Asher Jay. sisters, Rita Gaddis of Dallas, Sue Rich of Dallas, Rene Macdonogh of Washington Donna Yglecias of Waco, Carla Hines of Waco; brother-in-laws, Gerald Lawrence and wife Patty, Roger Lawrence and wife Debbie. Ricky was known as “Uncle Ricky” to his many Nieces and Nephews.
A Funeral Service for Ricky will be conducted at 10:00 A.M., Monday, December 21, 2020 at Calvary Baptist Church. Ricky’s Nephew, Pastor Andrew Lawrence will officiate.
Ricky will be laid to rest with Full Military Honors, at 2:00 P.M., Monday, December 21, 2020 in DFW National Cemetery in Dallas.
