Service for Robert Ray Allen, 76, of Cleburne, Texas, will be conducted at 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, February 1, 2022, in the Crosier-Pearson Cleburne Chapel. Reverend Morgan Blair and Reverend Carroll Marr will officiate. Burial to follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be 9:00-5:00 P.M., Monday, January 31, 2022 at the Funeral Home.
Robert passed away due to complications from COVID-19, January 16, 2022 in Ft. Worth, TX. He was the youngest of seven children born to Eva Helen Tennison and Bill Blaine Allen of Meridian, Bosque County, Tx., both whom have preceded him in death.
He graduated Peabody High School in Hillsboro, TX. After graduation, he attended barber school in Dallas, TX receiving his Mastery in Barbering, while staying with a close relative, Mrs. Bernice Marshall of Dallas, TX, who was instrumental in continuing his barbering career. Robert married Jean Ella Grant on June 20, 1970, in Cleburne, Tx.
Robert has held several hard-working jobs over his lifetime, including 9 ½ years with the Santa Fe Railroad and recently retiring this past fall after 40 plus years of service from Johns Manville in Cleburne, TX. He also had a passion for buying, restoring and collecting vintage autos that he loved almost his entire life. He also loved to grill and BBQ in his leisure time.
Robert leaves behind with heavy hearts to cherish his memory, his wife of 50 plus years Jean Ella Grant Allen, three children, daughters Artrie Rae Allen of Cleburne, TX, Stacy Alexandra Allen of Ft. Worth, TX and one son Robert Willis Allen of Ft. Worth, TX. He is also survived by one sister, Laverne Hendricks of Redwood City, CA, who both share the same birthday of May 26. He also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends he has made through the years.
