Robert Brand

Service for Robert Michael "Mike" Brand, 65, of Cleburne will be conducted at 2:00 P.M., Thursday, May 3, 2012 in the Crosier-Pearson Cleburne Chapel. Burial will be in Rosehill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Roy Brand, Alvin Brand, Leon Cox, Don Cox, Gary Brand, and Terry Way. Honorary pallbearers will be the Pony Baseball and Softball Directors and Steven Huey. Visitation will be from 6-8:00 P.M., Wednesday, at the funeral home.

Mr. Brand passed away Sunday, April 29, 2012 in Cleburne. He was born Dec. 26, 1946 in Cleburne to George R. "Pete" and Lura Belle Cox Brand. He married Charlene Dickenson on Jan. 21, 1967 in Burleson.

Mr. Brand was a retired machinist for the Burlington-Northern Railroad. He was very active in the Pony Baseball and Softball and was inducted into the Pony Baseball Hall of Fame. He served as umpire and as a volleyball referee for many years. He was the founder of the girls Little Dribblers Basketball program in 1975. Mike served two terms on the Cleburne ISD School Board. He also served many years on the Board of Directors for the Central Appraisal District of Johnson County and was a member of First United Methodist Church in Cleburne.

Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Charlene Brand of Cleburne; daughter, Robyn Huey and husband Steven of Cleburne; three grandchildren, Jayde Rice, Briana Smith and Dale Smith; one brother Jerry Brand and wife Earline of Cleburne; two sisters-in-law and one brother-in-law; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents.
