Services for Robert T. "Bob" Hadley, Jr., 84, of Joshua will be conducted 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 5, 2009, at the Joshua Seventh-day Adventist Church, with burial at Caddo Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, December 2, 2009.
Robert T. "Bob" Hadley, Jr., 84, of Joshua passed away Sunday, Nov. 29, 2009 at his home. He was born May 9, 1925, near Joshua to Robert T. (Bud) and Grace Moore Hadley. He married Mary Ann Wright Sept. 9, 1979, in Cleburne.
Bob was a 6th generation Texan and a 5th generation resident of Johnson County where his family operated a farm and dairy and raised short-horn cattle.
Following a seven-month hospitalization for polio, Bob returned to school, inspired to study nursing. After Bob received his BSRN degree from TCU he worked 13 years at Ft. Worth Children's Hospital as evening charge nurse for adolescents. When Huguley Memorial Medical Center opened south of Fort Worth, he became evening nursing coordinator, where he worked 13 years. For 13 additional years Bob served as director of health services for Southwestern Adventist University, Keene.
Bob was President of the Committee of 100 at Southwestern Adventist University, a philanthropic organization, for more than 30 years. He was president of the Caddo Cemetery Association and a member of Joshua Seventh-day Adventist Church where he was church elder and teacher of youth classes for more than half a century.
Bob is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Hadley of Joshua; his 102 year old aunt, Sudie Clark of Keene, nephews, Steve Hadley of San Diego, CA, Jon Hadley of Phoenix, AZ; niece, Sondra Leno of Rancho Cucamonga, CA, and 2 great-nephews, Scott Damazo of Portland, OR, and Sheldon Hadley of San Diego, as well as a host of cousins, other relatives and many, many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and by his brother, Lee Hadley.
