Graveside services for Robert N. Smith, Sr., 90, of Keene will be conducted at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, August 14, 2010 in the Keene Cemetery. Pastor Bill Kilgore will officiate. Mr. Smith passed away Thursday, August 5, 2010 in Keene. He was born to John Bruce and Ruth Allen Smith on August 19, 1919 in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. Robert married Velma Marie McKiness on May 15, 1939 in St. Louis, Missouri. He served in the U.S. Navy and Army during World War II. Robert was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church since 1950, at Keene for the past 3 years. He worked as an automobile mechanic for 32 years and then retired in California from Loma Linda University's maintenance department in 1985. Robert was a quiet, hard working man who enjoyed traveling. His precise nature and loving spirit will be missed greatly by all those that knew and loved him. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, James L. Smith, Ruby Fisher and Mildred Wade.

Survivors include his wife of 71 years, Velma Smith; children and their spouses, Myrna Smith, Robert Jr. and Karen Smith, and Brian and Christine Smith; grandchildren, Rob Smith and wife, Tiffany, Heather Davidson, Kari Huffman, Justin Smith and Brandon Smith; great grandchildren, Mackensie, Jared, Ryan and Madison; sister, Martha Brown; sister in law, Irene Smith; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
