Ron Billings

Graveside service for Ronald Elton Billings, age 75, of Rio Vista, will be held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, January 25, 2025, in Rosehill Cemetery with Reverend Larry York officiating.

Ron passed into God’s hands on January 21, 2025, in Fort Worth. He was born in Van Nuys, California on December 30, 1949, to William Elton Billings and Lenora Catherine (Cardiff) Billings. Ron was a Texan at heart with a love for the outdoors, hunting, fishing, and classic cars. He had a special affinity for people and made friends easily wherever he went. He spent his latter years bedridden but relished visiting with friends and reminiscing with family.

His indomitable spirit enabled him to fight his incurable disease for 50+ years with grit and determination. He never gave up hope and always kept a positive attitude that he would somehow prevail. His faith in God always gave him comfort no matter how challenging his situation.

He is survived by his cousin and caretaker for 8 years, best friend, and brother-in-spirit, Duaine Goulding as well as his extended family and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his parents. 

A special thanks to the staff at Heritage Trails Nursing & Rehab for their compassionate care and, in particular, Rose Frank for whom he had a special fondness. Also, specials thanks are due for the congregants from Field Street Baptist Church for their comforting visits and fellowship.
