A memorial service for Ronald Ray “Ronnie” Martin, 73, of Cleburne will be conducted at 1:00 P.M., Wednesday, Dec. 21, 2016 in United Presbyterian Church of Cleburne. The Reverend Kenny Rigoulot will officiate. Interment will be private.
Ronald Ray “Ronnie” Martin passed away Sunday, Dec. 18, 2016 in Ft. Worth from complications of Alzheimer’s. He was born Nov. 26, 1943 in Cleburne to Oscar Homer and Othel Christian Martin. He married Lynn Wall Barker on October 7, 1983 in Cleburne.
Ronnie is known by many as Sgt. Martin for his 33 years of service in the Cleburne Police Department. He started his career in 1967 and served in the Patrol Division, the Criminal Investigation Division, was the first full-time narcotics officer for the department, and the firearms instructor and Range Master for over 20 years. He was appointed to the position of Cleburne City Marshal in 1996 and served in that capacity until his retirement in 2001. After his retirement, he excelled at and found great joy being "Granddaddy" to his grandchildren who adored him.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 33 years, Lynn Martin of Cleburne; daughter, Bethany Jones and husband Rob of Abilene; son, Blake Barker and wife Rachel of Waco; grandchildren, Mason Barker, Luke Jones, Molly Jones, and Bailey Vidaurri; sister, Beverly Archer and husband Albert; and many other relatives and friends who will miss him greatly. He was preceded in death by his parents, Homer Martin, Othel Christian Martin, and M.C. Ward.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to: United Presbyterian Church, 1510 Westhill Dr. Cleburne, TX 76033.
