Services for Roy T. Payne, 70, of Alvarado, will be conducted at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, June 4, 2005 in the Cleburne Funeral Home Chapel.
Rev. Charles Payne, Rev. Don Newsome and Rev. James Polyak will officiate. Burial will be in Bethany Cemetery in Alvarado. Pallbearers will be the US Army Honor Guard. Honorary Pallbearers will be Charles Benson, Larry Benson, Cary Benson, Devon Benson, Robbie Payne, Jay Payne, Oscar Payne and Daryl Payne.
Mr. Payne passed away Wednesday, June 1, 2005 in Fort Worth. He was born April 1, 1935 in Nashville Tennessee, to Roy Eugene and Mary Elizabeth Tittle Payne. He married Mabel Bernice Clowdus on March 27, 1982 in Cleburne.Mr. Payne enlisted in the US Marines Corp in 1953 and enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1963 and retired in 1974 with 21 years of service. He was a member of the Central Baptist Church in Alvarado.
Roy T. Payne is survived by his wife of 23 years, Mabel Payne of Alvarado; two daughters, Terry Lynn Karpenko of Alvarado and Tracy Ann Harris of Springtown; one son Roy Dewayne Payne and wife Dawn L.of Springtown; four brothers, Homer E. Payne of Fort Worth, Robert E. Payne of Granbury, Jerry L. Payne of Whitney and Rev. Charles E. Payne of Cleburne; one sister, Virginia L. Benson of Cleburne; 9 grandchildren, Paul and Michelle Brown, Sean Brown, Ben and Jessica Brown, Kristy and Chris White, Trista and Daniel Perry, Erica Karpenko, Zack Herrera, Ashten Payne and Justin Harris; 6 great-grandchildren, Anastasia Brown, Christopher Brown, Matthew Brown, Faith Herrera, Maranda Brown and Alyssa Perry. He was preceded in death by his father, Roy Eugene Payne on August 25, 2003, mother Mary Elizabeth Tittle Payne on April 4, 1996, one brother Richard L. Payne on July 12, 2003, and step-daughter, Lwana Kay Brown on March 29, 2004.
