Services for Samuel Ward Crager, Jr., 79, of Cleburne will be conducted at 10:00 A.M., Thursday, June 25, 2020 at Cornerstone Pentecostal Church of God. Reverend Weldon Coble, Reverend Mingo Barron and Reverend Paul Coble will officiate. Burial will be in Rosehill Cemetery.
Samuel Crager passed away Saturday, June 20, 2020 in Fort Worth surrounded by his family. He was born October 28, 1940 in Ballinger, Texas to Samuel Ward (Sr.) and Bethel Marie (West) Crager. Samuel married Rose Mary Miller, the love of his life, on February 24, 1968 in Odessa. Samuel served proudly in the Army 82nd Air Borne, Specialist 5th Class. He was a retired welder with over 55 years of service in the fabrication industry. Samuel was of the Pentecostal faith. He was an avid fisherman, art creator, family man, singer and lover of life.
Always smiling and mischievous, you could count on him to be there for you. He was an amazing husband and father, blessing the world with three daughters, a great listener and a man of integrity and honor. He displayed grace and mercy with his forgiving nature and heart. His best advice to everyone - “Don’t take any wooden nickels.”
Survivors include his wife, Rose Mary Crager; children, Rhonda Coble and husband Paul, Juanita Middleton and husband Mike, and Rose Robinson; 6 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; siblings, Alfred Glenn Crager, Sr. and wife Carol; Beth Gann and husband Calvin, Wanda Miller Ward and husband Robert and a host of other relatives and friends who loved him and will miss him.
Preceding him in death were his parents as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
